| Julian Baddeley |
Extract from "Oliver" programme - 2000
Julian is eleven and has enjoyed being in plays since he was quite young (he thinks he was probably a sheep in the Nativity Play at school!). His first proper role was as a singing flower in the desert in Le Petit Prince, which was fine except for the huge yellow petals he had to wear around his neck! He has been a blue-painted Munchkin in The Wizard of Oz, a blood-soaked Master Macduff in Macbeth, and he recently played Oliver with the Bradfordians, a brilliant production that was the source of many friendships backstage.
He likes all the hard work that goes with acting, especially when there are lots of others to watch and learn from. Seeing a show start with ragged acting in drafty church halls and grow ever tighter, until the last nervous rehearsals under the lights, is really exciting.
Four years ago he began singing lessons and has had enormous pleasure from this ever since, thanks to the care of his teacher, Gillian Davis. Apart from this, he enjoys sailing, pop music and hanging about with his friends.
